So we are back from our much-awaited family break from Port Dickson sans daddy-dearest & xiao-mei. It was short of one day then the planned 4-days as the weather was not too friendly and also hubby dearest was unfortunately 'under-the-weather'. The very fact that he survived the 3 hour drive amidst sneezing & coughing was a miracle in itself. It was my first-time in Port Dickson - I think we went there when I was like 3 or 4 when memories do not serve me too well. The view from our 3-room suite was awesome. Each room got an unobstructed panaromic view of the straits of Malacca. I felt like the sea breeze has truly a calming effect coz I feel really lethargic over there. The kids had a good time. The adults tried to I guess even though my brother & I were coughing and were not feeling too well. The rain certainly dampen the holiday spirits somewhat. The food was not too bad - although not that amazing either. We discovered that when a restaurant serves seafood it always eventually serve thai-styled. So tomyams and nasi paprik was quite a common fare over there. On our way home, we stopped by our favourite kampung-stopover, Mak Itam's house at Batu Pahat. It is always nice to drop by as she never fails to cook-up some good home-cooked asam-pedas and telor dadar although the son, Jaafar did eventually treated us to a nice-chinese styled restaurant for late lunch.
It was raining non-stop throughout the drive form Port Dickson to Singapore and we found out that it have been raining here at home since Sunday, the very day that we left.
Today was the much-awaited opening of Evertop Hainanese Chicken Rice. Feeling very 'kan-cheong' and 'kiasu' dear husband wanted to be the first chicken rice-cutomer at 9am only to be told that the chicken would only be ready at 10.30. So we had eggs & french toast first before going there again to witness the grand opening with lion dance & all.
