What drives you? Money? Fame? I guess your priorities would differ at different stages of your lives. What drives you 20 yrs ago may not be important to you now or what priorities you had back then would definitely look a stark contrast to what you want now. I was never driven by fame ie never dreamt of being famous, ever. For a while, I was driven by money, only because I have set targets for myself ie by 25, must save enough to get married; by 30 must save enough for a house & family; by 35 must have enough to live comfortably & save for the future. Realistic right? and not too far fetched for a simpleton like me.

After all this is said, I do not understand what makes a person 'abandons' what he/she stood for all in the name of the 'greenback'. Inspite of what I had worked for in my life, I would NEVER EVER do it in the expense of my FAMILY, no matter what. At least for now I know my priority is my family. That is why the decision to work freelance & not full-time is not such a heart-wrenching decision for me. Fortunate for me I have a wonderful support network of close family who never fail to render assistance when it comes to minding the kids or for us just to have a little R&R on our own. I am definitely not in support of gunning for financial success only to have my own family members & friends bear the grunt & suffer because of it. Because at the end of the day, blood is thicker than water, & family is all that you have that you can call your own & depend on, who will never abandon you in times of need. And I wonder when you swim in the 'pool of greenback', you ask yourself are you truly happy & is it worth it?
