2 yrs & 12 hrs ago, you born into this world. you had the loudest wail ever-louder than your brother's, to announce your arrival. Even when I was still groggy I can see the little miracle that God has blessed upon us- a beautiful miracle. A little princess I can call my own. From the start, I knew you were very special. All the nurses & midwife at KKH were eager to feed you although they do admit you have one of the loudest wail among all. From that day on, you blossomed into this angel that have touched so many hearts around you. Never a day goes by without your chatter & unexpected face mimics that you come up with everyday. Always full of surprises, never a boring day for me. May my princess be a truly blessed soul with a big heart and continue touching the lives of others around you. Happy 2nd Birthday my princess.

Amira had her 2nd Birthday celebration held by her Nani & Appa yesterday. Of course according to our plan it was supposed to be a small do among close friends & family. But once its in my mum-in-law's hands, a small-do soon turn into a mini-grand bash with tents & decorations with lots of food and add a couple of guests to boot. It was amazing what she can plan within 3 days. The event went without any hitches except now Amira has got a phobia standing in front of guests with a cake in front of her(which Amirul gladly took over)- she got 3 different ones btw, one strawberry shortcake, one planet cake- cracked open by a toy-hammer and a 'pulut kuning'.
Overall, I think my in-laws are happy, we are happy, and all of us were dead-flat by the end of yesterday. The event would not have gone smoothly without help from close friends, like my mummy's close buddies from the mosque, our very own mami & Mamu(u know who u are) and our homeboys for helping out til the very end.

Amira went to her first soccer match at the stadium last night. The game was between Singapore & Iraq for the Asian Cup qualifiers and we won 2-0 (at least worth it).OK, so part of the reason we decided to lug her was because we are almost certain that the stadium will not house full capacity of the usual 60 000. So at least she would have enough room to move around and keep herself busy. She was of course more excited by the sight of the dancing lion mascot than the game. Amirul is more excited to talk about the big TV screen than whats on the field. While constantly rubbing his eyes, he keeps himself entertained with the bagful of crackers & chocolates packed by my mum, and also the line of drinks bought by Yan & Jeff, our homeboys.

Halftime, we moved sits after being dogged by constant chatter by an OTT makcik behind us who provided unwanted commentaries about soccer and other stories pertaining the players & their families. And she won't even stop during half-time. By then Mira busies herself playing near the steps & Amirul, since he did not have any small toys with him, decided to play with his fingers who by then are 2 characters on an adventure. Then they moved on to a game with fist & hands - So I figured oklah whatever that will keep them busy & occupied. We left at full-time and Amirul, this being his 2nd match, though sleepy, did enjoy himself & Amira came back with a very stained trousers.

Now I believe that a woman IS their own worst enemy. I walked in the usual crowded train today. Ear plugged to Glenn & FD, hand still clutching a book hoping to get a sit. I spotted a young malay couple not more than 25 I think. I stood about a metre away, minding my own business. I mean in the train there is only so much place that you can rest your eyes on. Worse if its underground - you look at me and I pretend to ignore you. So this girl of the couple was practically glaring at me like I was going to flirt with her boyfriend or perhaps thinking I was trying to divert his attention towards me. HELLO...what am I ? 16? and pleeease, the guy is remotely close to cuteness. OKlah so I dont look like a mother of 2 (like many shocked faces would attest to) even if I was single ,I wont even bat an eyelid over him. I think I got a lot more class than admiring a 'gina-looking' boy which by now I even forgot how he looks like.
I've encountered girls who would purposely act cute or grab their boyfriends closer when I pass by. Its especially extra-bitchy especially with some young malay couples (SOME, not all, must make myself clear or else I get whacked) - see, you leave me no choice but to condemn my own race. I cannot comprehend for the life of me why this is so....or maybe its just me..maybe I look like a threat..do I? women...its true they say...it'll take a lifetime to understand them.

The past few days we have been going out & dining out a lot..I think more than we did over the last couple of mths combined.(And thus will explain my husband's need to keep reminding ourselves to "stop eating out" - which I always think is obviously not possible)

  • We started with supper at 3 Monkey's Cafe on Valentine's Day night, a detour from or original plan of Swenson's at Crown Prince coz the q was so freaking long-Valentine's Day lah katakan.
  • The following day, as goes with the usual Wednesday ritual, we had our meals at my Grandmas's place of steamed Nasi Lemak(syiok-a-do I tell u). I also got a gift of a very vintage rattan coffeetable from my Mak Teh which rests nicely in our Senja apt.(very happy :))
  • The following night, we met up with the possies at Spizes simpang bedok for a nice steak.

  • On Friday night, we had sort of a farewell dinner for my brother-in-law who's leaving for Adelaide to continue pursuing his studies at Baladi down at Arab St. I love the lebanese spread though my hubby begs to differ coz as soon as the 1st course out of the 3 was being served, he was already thinking of the Kway Teow Goreng at our sarbat. We spotted some local celebrities (I wont mention name lah) who's celebrating one of their own's birthday. I dont know about you but I'm not a celebrity 'go-gaga-when-I-meet-them' type of person. So when these celebrities kept looking at us hoping that we would acknowledge and go all excited over them I just choose to 'buat bodoh' or act stupid. Dont ask me why...I also dont know..maybe I just don't want to give them that satisfaction to enjoy their celebrity-dom
  • On Saturday night we head to Spizes (yes again) to meet our possies ie Tina & Epol (yes again - I think if is Epol in town, 2 days tak jumpa, my hubby will get withdrawal symptom I think)

So all in all I havent really ate my mum's home-made cuisine for the whole week. Today she made Gado-Gado..I think we'll shelve the idea of eating out (konon-konon) and eat in.

Over the weekend, we checked out my brothers condo bachelor pad(minus my mum coz I think she still have not gotten over the fact that her only son will be moving out before he's married - horror!horror!). its obvious that we sisters were more excited with the whole prospect than he is. Already we were looking forward to weekend BBQs, jacuzzi-relaxing sessions, skin-burning sauna sessions & dipping in the pool. The place was practically deserted still and the kids were oblivious of our rantings of not going to the pool, went right in when they saw the water - which explains why Mira is running around in her pampers. He still have a fair amt of renovating to do and won't be about 2-3 mths til the place is fully ready. Meanwhile, we can go on jumping around in the pool and list out the things we can do once the place is up & running :)

Today, my aunties & sister did spring cleaning of my 92-yr-old grandpa's room. And my was it a treasure cove. We unearthed things and documents that dated way back from the 1930s. There was the Raffles Institution magazine from 1930, lots of old photos, wrappers & plastic from the old Emporium & NTUC days and even a bicycle registration card - yes, its my first time hearing there was even such a thing. Probably back in those days its a glam thing to own a bicycle licence like we do with our driving license. And we didn't even covered the whole room yet.I"m looking forward to the part 2 of our cleaning up to see what interesting stuff we could uncover...

I am a sick woman for the last 2-days. It started on Sunday night when I thought I had a muscle sprain on my neck or as the malay calls it"salah bantal". It got better Monday morning after my husband applied some medicated oil. But the pain returned and it started spreading to all parts of my body. I tool Panadol when it comes and able to contain the pain and get on with work. As Bill is in Hangzhou from Wednesday, I got days free till the next Monday, so pretty excited about plans to bring my kids out. Then Amirul's struck with fever and my husband is still battling with his asthma(so worried) but I think its not so bad this time round. So much about the going out plans...I was able to teach Wednesday morning although I felt like pins & needles all over my body - much like the flu symptom. I decided to self medicate by taking Anarex given by my aunt but the whole of Wednesday night, I keep waking up as the ache was beyond anything I felt before.I felt like I just wanted to chop off all my limbs and my dear husband have to constantly massage my arms & legs. Also pity him as he stayed up all night making sure that Amirul & I would be OK.Really, realy appreciate that.
So this morning after constantly being prodded by my husband, I went to see the dr and there's no fever just very early signs of flu.The doctor must be very happy as this week alone, my husband, son & me have been seeing him consecutively since Tuesday. Took a short nap & felt better though still groggy & lethargic.
Oh we also got a new 51" TV given by Edmund. My dad is one happy man.Would also be a very much needed welcome for June's World Cup.

After the anniversary, my husband celebrated his 35th birthday 2 days ago. I think I am more excited for him than he is about the whole "growing old" thingy.(I think I'm more excited by the prospect of shopping for a birthday gift for him!)The homeboys and our best buds did a little surprise-do for him at West Coast. Knowing my husband, he of course knows we are up to something despite us planning it discreetly behind his back. But he appreciates it just the same. He got his favourite game of RISK & stylo-mylo Parker pen as gifts. The next day at Eunos, he got a fruit cake from my dear dad-in-law. So quite a bit of celebration there I would say. All in all I felt this week whiz by so fast. Probably because of the long chinese new year hols.
