Amidst all the renovations that are still currently going on, there are quite a number of events that have happened over the past weeks which have yet to make its photo-debut in my blog. So here goes:

After weeks & months of planning, organizing & rescheduling, we girls finally meet up last saturday for dinner at Mad Jack. With kids & husband in tow, almost all of us made it(at least those that matters :)) even my hubby who have a minor-puzzling rescheduling mix up of dates. I expected more of that place after all the publicity that t has received. Let me begin with the good points, the food was not bad,the price reasonable, the company was great. The 'minus points' are its ordering system - we have to order ourselves by ticking the items on a ready-made menu & also fill in the qty and also fill in the food code number (super-confusing, more confusing with kids & husbands with a group of 16 - challenging to say the least), then you have to queue at the counter to confirm your order with your items picked & make payment. Now imagine having to do this 3 or 4 times everytime you decide to order something. It stated in its brochure that they have a playroom (not!!) the 'room' is actually a small little area by the side of one dining table, with bookshelves & a plasma TV where kids can play x-box. Maybe because its a crowded Saturday, but I feel its not so kids-condusive environment for family. Okaylah so much for my grouses. At the end of the day, we had a great time and looking forward to our next meet up - Hari Raya!!

What i thought was just a random fever bout for Amirul turned out to be a medical castastrophe for 3 of us. It began with just a simple report from Amirul's teacher that he vomitted twice in class earlier on Wednesday. On the way to pick him up,I felt cold sweat on my body which I thought was just due to the humid hot weather. Amirul looked fresh & bright, the thing that gave it away is when he started vomitting out everything that we gave him afterwards. About 4-5 times, I think. In the afternoon, I felt woozy & nauseous, not having had stomach flu before, I thought it was just the effect of our very late night outing and the weather. When I start to vomit out whatever that I ate, followed by my regurgitating husband, I thought something is really wrong. Between 3 of us, we threw up a total of 9 times and just ate a slice of bread for fear of vomitting what we just ate. The dr confirmed it was stomach flu and it IS contagious. My body didn't feel like mine anymore, between the medication and the constant vomitting, I was totally beyond myself. Felt so helpless & useless. We were so weak and went around the house like zombies(yes, it was THAT bad) Luckily Amira was with an aunt, and she had kindly baby-sat Amira the whole night through.felt better in the morning but I still feel a wee bit nausea and feel like I'm floating on air half the time. Unfortunately some emergency cropped up at work, and I forced myself to leave the house to rush the design job.Did it as fast as possible - its amazing I even survived the taxi trip with the driver blasting his cantonese song selection like a getai-performance all the way through. Luckily my hubby was well enough to pick me up after my 3-hr rush job to quickly bring me home so I can just lie down and rest.Gosh I wish it would be over soon, and the dr did reassure that it would be ok in 2-3 days time...til then, I just need to lie down again.

Our renovations are going on smoothly, without any major hitches. We are left with the painting and the fitting of the furnishings on Saturday,(phew)- at least life can slowly resume to normal. We have been living like nomadics for the last few days. Outfits & stuff in suitcases & boxes. So grateful that my parents have been so understanding, having to live with clutter & boxes in the living room, kitchen, corridor and any empty space that we can fit our stuff into.
Our cousin's engagement went smoothly. Me & my hubby 'fold-sleeves' and rewang, washing all the pots & plates. Fun but extremely tiring I tell u. But glad it went good without any problems.
Over the past few days, I have discovered my girlfriends over the MSN. Apa lagi..gossip galore I tell u, just like the good old days. Its so warm & nice knowing you can depend on these friends for comfort and understanding. I have known them for almost 20yrs, grown with them, went through marriages and parenthood till all of us are now blessed with 2 kids each.(coincidence eh?) Even though we meet once in a blue moon, it always feels like we just met yesterday and immediately picked up from where we left. Gossips & dicussions are abound, where it used to range from school, teachers & boyfriends, we have since 'upgraded' to topics like husbands, kids, education & pregnancy. Now we even plan to 'aim' for our no. 3 together. We'll see if that happens ya?

For the next few weeks, our lives will now revolve around suitcases & boxes. The renovation of our room will start on Monday- in conjunction with the 1 week school holidays. We have been packing stuff bit by bit, box by box but have to rev up to 5th gear on Wednesday when the 2nd hand furniture store decided to not just 'take-a-look' but collect our wardrobe & dressing table on the same day. Very sentimental when that happened as it is a after all part of our wedding furniture. But hey, better things are in the pipeline, right? So our clothes, books & toys are packed & organised so that our lives will not be abruptly affected by the temporary situation. So far our room is now 80% empty. Mattresses on the floor sans a rented room, but it sure feels more airy & spacey. The next week while our room is being renovated & remodeled, we'll retreat to our weekend abode at Bt Panjang and Amirul is already feeling very excited about the idea-like a broken record I tell you, with chorus of "are we going today?" on repeat-mode.
Amirul's school holidays started on a high-note with a surprise for him at the Kids Central live show. We deliberately kept it underwraps, revealing it only when we arrived to prevent a repeat-telecast of the broken-record mode. Yes, it was a truly a good surprise as he was so awe-struck by the whole show. As for me, I do not really get Teen Titans or Justice League so the show was just a so-so for me. I can only relate to the Batman show. But I must say I was quite impressed with the pyrotechnics and appreciate the extent of the production process involved - having involved in such-like-production once-upon-when-I-was-working-fulltime ago.
The school holidays started on a good note and today we are off to an engagement...:)
