I always look forward to the nights out with the girls - as you know we don't get to meet that much often as we would like to. We've known each other for almost 20 yrs and I still see them as they were in our dark blue pinafore & 'decent' faces. Julie who's back from France for 3 weeks looks wonderful after almost recovering fully from her sudden stroke less than 3 mths ago. I missed Faz's wedding last July as I was sick after the Langkawi trip, she still looks the same, same happy-go-lucky charm even though went through quite an ordeal herself. As Rima & I met quite often, I guess we cant really see any difference apart from me insisting that she cut her hair (she did not). Idle chit-chats in between hearty meals at Fig & Olive and latte at Coffee Bean, the atmosphere was lighthearted and it never fails to invoke a kind of comfort & coziness. Always knowing that I can be myself among these girls. Knowing that sometimes you do not need much words to know that you understood each other, without questions, without judgement. Knowing that no matter what kind of exterior you put up, no matter what mood you are in, they will always know the real you. All in all it was a nice 'dinner-date' even though the weather was cold & grey, cheesy as it may sound, friendship could easily warm you up...

I don't know what is it with me & big bags. The bigger, the roomier, the better. I found the joys of big bags of course after I had my 2 kids - to stuff all their diapers & milk & wet tissue..(u get the drift). Not wanting to make do with the 'obit' diaper bags that they had back then. Soon, I even lug around my big tote even to work so I can stuff my waterbottle, book, magazines, diary, candy & chocolates and other misc things that I might pick up on the way to and from work without having to tote any shopping bags or worse the plastic 'pasar' cellophane carrier. My husband still do not understand why I need big bags or even why I carry so much things to my 3-4 hrs work. But then again he also still do not understand why I need that many bags in the first place. Apart from the all-classic big black tote bag, I had always wanted a leather brown tan bag. So the bag-aholic in me jumped for joy when I chanced upon the so-roomy-I-can-stash-anything&everything bag at esprit. Since I do not carry the same bag everyday, I wonder should I splurge over $100 for THAT bag?? decisions..decisions...It took me all of 3 days to decide when the store presented me with a store voucher as part of their membership renewal. So happy me got my TAN BIG BAG...

Once again we took the kids to the National Stadium for a game bewteen Singapore & Vietnam. The atmosphere never fail to lift our spirits up (bersemangat gitu)no matter what the game or what the eventual score will be - of course it would be sweeter if we had won ;( The kids had a great time with company from my cousins & sis who never fail to keep him & Amira entertained despite their dire need to concentrate on the game. Also sweet was a chance meeting with a fellow blogger, Shireen, who came with her family. Its a nice feeling to be able to meet in person, after knowing that somebody from their writings.One thing about soccer game I cannot dispute is that it never fails to bring guys & man together no matter what their differences are. Its the kind of solidarity that only soccer can bring together. On the whole it was a nice game-outing, great company, great atmosphere...til the next game...

Its already the 2nd day of school and I'm happy to say that Amirul have been enjoying his school days.No complaints so far and the feedback at the end of the day is always good and enthusiastic. Can't really say the same about the parents though. I am surprised that I got so emotional when I let him go to join his friends at the school hall on the first day. I thought I would be the strong one - must be the time of the month when hormones run havoc on my nerves! Yes, yes I did shed a tear...or two...and I am not ashamed to admit it, but to see your little boy all set & ready to step out into the real world does indeed struck a chord on the motherly instincts. I have to constactly pacify myself when I realise that I will not be hearing his voice in the afternoon at home demanding for milk or milo, or lamenting how there is no more good shows for him on Central or how he is bored with his mountain of toys and bugging me for ideas on what he can do..sigh..I shall miss that. But the good thing is that I get to spend a little more time with him in the morning before I head down for work. Amira was also affected - keep asking when her 'baijan' is coming back and holding on to him once he's home - missing him.

Dear hubby is still in denial. He is trying to get over the fact that his son is now a big boy about to embark in a new chapter of his life. I am feeling very emotional - like letting go the rope of a flying kite. At least I can be rest assured that Amirul will be in good hands, having met his form teacher (seems nice & committed) and knowing the kind of friends' company that he will be in. I guess that is how every parent feels when their first born is about to step out into the real world. Today was spent with Amirul as much as possible while finishing up last-minute preparations for his school stuff. We ended the day with his favourite new pastime-of-the-moment - 'a movie-drive' where the daddy will take a drive to nowhere while he watches his favourite movie with ice-cream & chips. Today's movie was his all-time favourite - Toy Story while we cruise down Tuas South. It will be hard but I will try to be less sappy tomorrow and appear strong for my dear son who is very eager to begin this new journey ...

Happy 2007 to one and all!! The new year started with a good note (although I can't really sing the same tune as how it ended :() We started with a good swim first thing in the morning then rushed down to Marina to catch "A Night at The Museum". It was a hilarious movie and also Amira's first ever movie experience - though she fell asleep halfway through. Very enjoyable, very funny as I can't remember the last time I laughed til I cried at the movies - very rare as my closed ones can attest to. We had late brunch a Swensons and had a nice stroll around Marina to 'look-look-see-see' the year-end sale that is happening practically at every store. And I emerged unscathed with just a $5 hole in my pocket for a cute wide-belt.On the way back, we saw a beautiful rainbow on our skyline - magnificent end to our first day of the new year.
My uncle is happily married a week ago, with our car getting the honour of being the wedding car, made more special with decorations that I am very proud to say we did our own - bolehlah tahan...the occasion went smoothly, photos can be found in my cousin Yan's website. Hope he would have a very happy marriage that will last a lifetime.
Amirul had his orientation 2 days after. He was introduced to his teachers and classmates. He is very happy and excited, very contrary to the parents' anxiousness. We were also taken aback by some not so happy news that we took in our stride and always hoped for the best and praying that matters would resolve it way through.
On the work front,I had more good news with design jobs in store for 2 more hotel properties in addition to our current 3. At least it means I could still earn my extra freelance moolah for the next 3 years. Lets hope the good spell could only be a sign of good times ahead this year..insyaallah...
