Just when we thought the previous time was the last football game held at our National Stadium, the national team hosted another international friendly at the all formidable Grand Ol'Dame. Being just a friendly game, the crowd turnout wasn't so good, but we did get good seats - thanks to another generous help from my cousin :)

Amirul decided to give the game a miss since its not Manchester United playing - yes, he's now a Man U Ronaldo fan thanks to the great influences around him in the form of my father, uncles & numerous cousins. I suppose his father is not exactly jumping for joy at his new found interest but thankful just as well for he at least has taken a fancy towards soccer in whatever form he knows how.

Amira was just happy that she once again get to see the dancing lion on the stands. Although she got bored halfway & whipped out a magazine & pretended to flip through & read it for a good 30 minutes. I think we were just happy that she occupied herself rather than distract us with enormous why's & how's.

So the school holidays have officially started. To kick off the mid-year vacation, the kids were brought to a kids play called 'Monster Hits' at the Black Box in conjunction with KidsFest 2008. This was Amirul's second play & Amira's first. Being an interactive play, Amirul had a little more fun than the sister did & I think she was more terrified of the 2 monsters actually coming & cosying up to her. After it was all over she did say that she liked it & couldn't stopped talking about it to her dad...well I know I did enjoy myself & glad that I get to share one of my passion with both of them & hope I could stir & slowly cultivate their interest & appreciation for art in them :)

On the same day, it was the official start to the GSS 2008. On our way back, we passed Raffles City & I have to say it truely was 'challenge' to not go into all the shops with banners emblazing those magical four-letter words & made worse emphasized with 50% to 70% off. But being the first day, everywhere was crowded & I pacify myself by making a vow to 'visit' & 'say my hi' to the stores during the quieter weekdays. But then, being a school holiday how quite can it go right? We shall see soon enough I hope.

So another wedding is on the pipeline this weekend, another weekend of painful blissful feet in the name of beauty. I envision more dressing up to weddings with consecutive events week after week, it IS the holiday season after all...

Yesterday I got myself a treat. A chick-flick treat in the form of a rom-com (ie Romantic Comedy) from my better half. I was setting my eye on this movie a few months back since I heard McDreamy would be in it. I thought since its not an action-packed nor animated nor some super-hero flick, I would never get my husband to watch it with me. But lo & behold, out of the blue, he decided that why don't we just have the kids placed in safe hands for a few hours & we just go out for a movie & a good meal- just the 2 of us. Its been a while since we went out on a date - outings many, with kids included. After considering our choices ( I said its just 'formality' lah...) between 'What Happens in Vegas' & some others, I was very glad we decided on this one. It's a really feel-good chick movie that have u worry & stress free while watching it, & eye-candy in the form of Patrick Dempsey didnt hurt either :) Although I must say he does look a wee bit older for a character of 30 odd years.

We have been avid fan of romantic comedy for as long as we can remember & among our favourites were those that starred Hugh Grant & Julia Roberts. I guess its just the charm in the characters portrayed that make u feel good about them & makes u feel good just by watching them.Yesterday we caught the trailer of Hancock, & big fan of Wil Smith that he is, I'm sure it would be one of the movies we will be catching when it opens. But I think Wil Smith seems to always play the 'saviour' that saved the day much to often of late. But his movies are still goos nevertheless. My brother has a copy of 'ayat-ayat cinta' courtesy of his work & we still can't seem to finish watching it over the days. There is always something that would disrupt to make the viewing postponed to a later time. It looks good for the first 15 minutes though.

So our date went well, save for the bad traffic jam that we cant help but encounter when going home at 6. good movie, good meal, best company...more of these please...:)

My weekend went by me quicker than I imagined. It started mid-week when I had to prepare for a Mother's Day event organised by our muslimah unit. In between meetings & everyday routine & my freelance design work, we manage to bring the kids to watch Ironman (darn good & hot movie..)

I wasn't such a big Robert Downey Jr fan before. I love to see him in movies & the way he carry himself, his charisma, but my opinion of him was always swayed by his personal afflictions & the fact that he left Sarah Jessica Parker (duh!), but seeing him turn his life around, getting married, being a dad & practically putting his life back on the high-life is a big thumbs-up for me. And seeing him in Ironman, I think he rekindled the closet RDJr fan in me once again(but right now he stands after Gong Yoo lah kan, kan Xiaomei?)

After our okay-okay lunch at My Chicken Rice Shop, we drove the kids a stone's throw away from Vivocity, Keppel Bay. Previously my husband had spotted interesting water creatures while he was there, so he thought it would be interesting if the kids could see it for themselves. Our visit was rewarded when we spotted a water-caterpillar wiggling away & saw not 1 but 3 jellyfishes near the water surface.

The quite afternoon was then interrupted by the laughing & shrieking of the kids as their feet took flight & they ran around playfully by the bay. Simple & nice fun, the way we always like it....

We paid a short visit to the in-laws on Friday as we would not be able to see them over the weekend. Come Saturday, my busy weekend officially started. We had our family's inagural dinner at Sakura. The place was packed to the brim & I think I get full & tired just by walking up & down, to & fro to get my food replenished.

Sunday morning started after Subuh for me when we prep ourselves up for the next 5 hour event. I'm very proud to say it went pretty well. The atmosphere was warm & friendly & everyone had a good time. We gave all ladies a stalk of rose & those who attended the 2 talks we organised were given gifts & a hearty healthy breakfast. We were even featured on the news in Suria & CNA later that night:)

Still reeling in glee that the event went well, we then headed to Pasir Ris to visit a cousin who just gave birth to a baby boy. It was nice to see Aunties, uncles & cousins on my mom's side that we only get to see on such occasions & I would always look forward to those loud conversations, jokes & hearty laughter...

I think in my mind, it was an almost perfect weekend...
Happy Mother's Day to me & All Mothers...

About a year ago, I made 3 new friends over the virtual world. We met up & realised that we have tons in common. From that day onward, plus a few more addition to our posse, we meet regularly, our kids know each other by their first names & our hubbies are somewhat acquainted. Over quick meals or just watching over kids at the playground, we shared stories, anecdotes, advise or simply updating each other about where to get the best bargains in clothes & shoes. It is simple & straightforward this thing called friendship that I share with these mummies. No need to try too hard like it was in our struggling teenage years, nor do we see the need to impress. We appreciate each other for who we are & what we are. With the different personalities & characters, one thing that we definitely share is the strong bond & how we always place our utmost importance to our kids & family.

Alhamdulillah, I've enjoyed their company eversince, be it over the internet chat or when we have any chance to meet - as much as we try to squeeze in between the children's schoolhours, husband's free time-out & our own commitments. Here's to many more mummy-girls moments to come....

Its been a long time. SHOPPING at ORCHARD during a PUBLIC HOLIDAY...

It started with a 'much-left-to-be-desired' lunch at Garuda's (I'll let you fill in between the blanks), then together with the not-so-newly married cousins & the brother with Mira, we started our unplanned browsing of Orchard Rd from Paragon, to Takashimaya to Wheelock Place. All this hours in stacked-heel wedges mind you - thank god it was super-comfy Clarks which I think now is my husband's best gift to date. Manage to satisfy retail-therapy pangs with little purchases (literally little as in innerwear & chocolates from M&S & scarfs from Miss Selfridges) It seems most of the shops are having a 20% Labour Day storewide discount.

Even with the overwhelming crowd & the sweltering heat,I did have fun. I guess the company helps too :)

Later I'll be meeting my MP muses, after the damage yesterday, I hope I can maintain my purse's integrity & keep my pockets smiling - I hope, & knowing myself very well,I better not make any promises :)
