SMS - Dave: "Hi Aida, will u be able to come down tomm at 8.30am for a project briefing at Fuhua, Steph will go thru with u."

I received this message the day before, so this morning I quickly drop Amira off to school & make my way to Jurong West for the said briefing. All seems normal. At 8.30 while still at the school carpark I gave Steph, my co-asst a call to see if she'd already arrived.

Aida :"Hi Steph, are u at Fuhua already? Coz I'm here"
Steph:"Uhmmm...huh? Fuhua lessons will only start next week u know.."
Aida :"Ya, I know Dave send me an SMS abt the briefing today at 8.30?"
Steph:"huh? I dunno u know....maybe u should check with Dave..I'm at the office (thats all the way at Bali Lane for your info) but I have to leave at 9.30..."
Aida :"ok, I call Dave.."
Aida :"Dave, Its me.I thought we are supposed to have a briefing at Fuhua at 8.30?"
Dave :"oh ya...I'm waiting for you here at the office! where are u??"
Aida : (!!&*%$#)

So is it me or SMS getting way too complicated to comprehend nowadays??

Yesterday I made another exclusive date with the(other) man in my life. I first brought him to the library & for lunch we headed over to ZingDo where he had his first taste of great Korean food.(yes, yes I am turning him into a convert-forgive my biasness ). Since most of the menu items are hot & spicy, he opted for Seafood Noodle while I had yummy BiBim Bap Beef Bulgogi Meal set that comes with a bowl of piping-hot Kimchi soup. Its all not in vain as he is now a fan of Korean food after Japanese cuisine - Sushi & Handroll sans Wasabi :) So while dear hubby is fan of traditional Beriyani & Kway Teow, I can now drag my son for a Korean or Japanese meal when my craving calls for it. After our filling lunch, we went to sit & watch people skating at Fuji Ice Palace & left with a promise that hopefully we could skate together the next time we have our date.

The time spent in Tioman felt slow but it amazingly passed by us faster than we thought. Our days there were literally all about the sun & the sea - no TV, no newspapers, no malls, no ice-blended coffee & no computers. Purely laid-back, relaxing. The kids, suffice to say, had fun to the max - who wouldnt be when all u do when u wake up is hit the clear blue sea, have lunch then hit the sea again to swim with the fishes.

Snorkling around the islands was amazing - Masyaallah, to witness His creation sprouting right before your eyes, looking up close at corals in hues of greens, blues & reds, swimming alongside ultramarine blue fishes the size of your arm,& the likes of Dories & Nemos literally beside you.

When nightfalls, we witness the amazing sunset as we digged in our fresh grilled dinner by the beach with our feet in the sand.

Oh, not forgetting its still the Euro2008 season, being the ardent soccer fanatic, the husband have graciously, without mighty complaining, head to the outdoor cafe every night to watch the televised games - as the rooms were not even equipped with TV - for that, I could not thank him enough :)

A truely tranquil atmosphere where for just a few days we forgot how busy & chaotic our pace of lives were back home...

Early this week, I met up with my lovely sorority sisters from sec sch for a mad fun lunch - just us, no kids, no husbands. They caved-in to my cravings for everything korean & settled for lunch at Seoul Garden. Of course I'm still not hopping crazy for Kimchi as yet so Korean restaurants will have to just stay at 3rd spot after my top affection for all things Korean - my K-drama & Gong Yoo that is. Thanks guys :) I managed to do a little window shopping & I even surprised myself as I constantly did not see anything that I desire to buy, be it shoes or bags. Its been almost 2 weeks since the GSS started & I have yet to do any serious damage to my pockets.

Chatters & gossips flew in fast & furious over bulgogi beef & shezuan chicken over Kimchi soup broth. Salawati have to constantly remind me to stop cracking jokes as her stomach is aching & she would like to take a breather just so that she could hold a interrupted-free conversation with me. Haliza came a little later where she joined us for desserts at Swensens. It was a lovely time, just like old days, just like we were, 20 yrs ago....

It was a very anxious day for me (& I bet for the other ladies too). Our plan was to have a nice little picnic in the garden amidst lush landscape & blooming flowers while the kids run & scream around the gardens. Alas it was not to be. Like they say,we can only PLAN & ALLAH will do the rest.

So with the weather not on our side, we brought our picnic indoors instead in the 'blooming' atmosphere of our hostess yet again, Annie's, our soon-to-be-mummy-again, abode. Of course it was not without a little drama before I reached Annie's place with a 2hr delay.

All thanks to a traffic jam & my 'lost-in-traffic' moment while I had my first attempt to drive from Clementi to Sengkang, only to drive by PIE Toa Payoh TWICE, CTE twice, took a wrong turn, went thru Woodlands and ended up all the way to the end to Jln Bahar instead. So after 2 hours of my 'exploring' the major expressways of Singapore, I made a dire-straits call to dear husband who willingly took the wheels from me & drive us to our destination - I could not thank him enough :)

All is well when I reached Annie's house & soon forgot my ordeal as we 'stuffed' ourselves silly with food & drinks with merry-chat. We also did manage to watch 'Ayat-ayat Cinta' although not fully-concentrated - I mean with about 15 or so kids running & screaming around the house, its a major achievement that we even get the gist of the story. Ain's side commentary is a big help of course :)

So ladies, till we meet again soon, I had a blast & thanks again to my 'Kak Long' - once again, the hostess with the mostest....
